It’s funny how a burst rate of 4.5ps is now a disadvantage for some reason. For most people it’s more than enough and as a professional only a few years ago it was the best you could get. With the regard not using the camera for vlogging , I’d disagree. Stick a 20mm viltrox on it and it’s more than fine again for most people. Loving the z5. Great video other wise

I've invested in the Fuji system: XT4, XT5, lenses... it's undeniably excellent equipment. But I always come back to my M43 equipment. My EM5 and Pen-f continue to give me fantastic results with unrivalled portability. For everyday photography and travel, nothing can compete.

I agree. For me it is important that a camera system (body + e.g. three lenses) is not too big and heavy and at the same time delivers good image quality. That's why I use MFT.

Hi Matti I love so much my gx8 I use with an olympus 12-40 f2.8 and also with the 25mm f1.4. And also with an old Canon FD 55mm f1.2 that provide a crazy quality … Sure now I’m dreaming for a Gx8 mark II with a new AF generation Hi res feature and a live composite mode and with light touch would be perfect for me … I’m really hangry against the g9 mark II (to big) and the S9 (a joke ?!!) and really don’t understand Pana for those choice … So please ! Give us a Gx8 and Gx9 Mark II !

This looks really great. I don't like changing lenses too often when I'm out travelling... and the 50mm at the wide end turns this in to quite a viable walk around lens... which even 70mm wouldn't be for me. Good stuff.

    • @mattisulanto

To be precise Tamron says it's moisture resistant. However, some IP rated smart phones have an exposed USB port too.

    • @albedo0point39

USB C ports are internally sealed against water. An exposed port doesn't indicate lack of weather resistance.

Back in the days before Panasonic released full frame, or right after they did so, the future of m43 was not clear. There was even prediction of the death of it. Now it's a few years down the timeline, and both OM and Pana had released a few more m43 cameras, I think it will stay in the market for a few more years to go. Why not longer? I saw that the Panasonic S9 is going to tackle the small form factor requirement. I predict: m43 would stay on, mostly in the direction where OM is going: higher end, more capable ones. The idea is that the lens system is way more portable than FF ones. So for bird shooters, some sport shooters and travel/action shooters, the overall system would be much more luggable. The opposite end of development is less likely: phones are getting much better, with better lenses and picture quality. So a compact and light m43 with lesser quality is unlikely to be popular.

Matti, I disagree. MFT is strong, just perhaps in different ways than you desire. I have enjoyed and learn bunch for so many of your past videos, however, this isn’t one of them. I’ll just reply to a couple of points: 1) innovation: I find the OM 1.2 to be highly innovative. It continues to raise the bar with computational photography in a method that is fun, easy and quick to use. 2). Lenses. Recent offering over the past couple of years include and a ray of compact of four lenses from OMDS as well as a completely different 150-600 super zoom that was extensively adapted and tweaked for MFT. This wide variety of new offering does it appeal to everybody however there is a lens in there for everyone. 3). Enjoyment, quality and value. My local Camera Shop. (yes I am fortunate to have one that I can walk in and grab on all major manufacture’s kits) sells more MFT units than any other category. SUMMARY. MFT is alive and well in my region. More importantly, MFT is an amazing system and the best for me (Olympus/OMDS & Pany user).

The Firmware 1.03 is rumored to have fixed the overheating. You need to use a dummy battery with the A6700 and you can't have the screen set to daylight brightness. Also, adding a metal camera cage and 15mm NATO rails helps get rid of heat by increasing TDP.

Can you please do some detailed explanation on how the highlight shadow graph works? Is it a processing done with the raw data or just over the jpeg after the raw processing? And does this bring more noise than post-processing raw on our own? And how the i dynamic feature can go along with this settings? Can we use both in combination to get better dynamic range and results? Can you compare with examples? I tried to find those internet and all i could find was some vague comments over forums. It would be great if you can find some time to do a video on it. And there is an option of use digital colour filter over black and white picture profiles. How can we use these? Does it give same results as using actual colour filters? If so that is a great feature and i haven't seen any video on it.

Only Panasonic engineers know how the in camera processing works but I think it's safe to assume that the starting point is a RAW photo. I'll consider your video idea but meanwhile you can easily make your own comparisons and see what happens. Regarding color filters, here is a video I made awhile back that you may find interesting: ua-cam.com/video/R0HMsHYLOCc/v-deo.html

love it great video Matti. Panasonic should make a gx8 with a monochrome sensor preferably in square format which could be done within the m43 mount.

I picked up my first film camera in Germany, back in 1959 while serving in the US Army. Later a canon point and shoot in Vietnam, also a film camera. Upon returning to the United States, I used a Nikon film camera, and later a Nikon digital camera, followed by lumix, fujifilm, and today O M 5. I shot freelance photography so much of the camera gear was a tax expense and could be used to deduct from taxes. I could have been happy had I stopped at the LUMIX, but a son got me to try the fujifilm Pro series. I came back to my 4/3 because of weight of the camera. I learned sometime ago that the camera is just a tool. I shoot street photography and print my best work. Most of the gear paid for itself until I retired 19 years ago. I just found your site and find it useful.

You might have missed the Canon RF 28mm f2.8 pancake lens. I thought you might have mentioned that because you usually like a nice pancake lens.

I have a question! I convert the photos in pure raw, I import the files into Lightroom to merge them, the HDR file is generated. After this I'm wondering whether to export the file generated on Lightroom to TIFF. ,Merging the photos into film pack or making some corrections in lightroom and exporting to film pack and then returning to lightroom.
